We slept moderately OK, though it once again was too hot in our top floor room, so we left the windows open, and around 4am I woke briefly and felt like it was moist outside, not the 32C heat of yesterday afternoon. And yes, it was foggy when it got light out--foggy and for once cool.
A bit of breakfast first. I really like this hotel--the Pic d'Anie, it really hasn't seen much updates since the 1950s or so, but it does have decent plumbing and WiFi and a good dinner and breakfast, pretty much all you need.
After the coffee, it was down from Lescun into a little valley, then up to a plateau, still in the fog for the most part, though the fog lifted slightly so we could see at least partway up a ridge we were to go up and over, a just-get-it-done kind of day.
On the other side, the valley that Borce and Etsaut sit in, it was mostly clear and sunny, so we could see across to the Pic du Midi, getting closer.
But not before down and down and down, yet another fern covered hillside, and the temperature zoomed up. Another hot day, but we're almost done.
Stopped for a drink in Borce because why not (and it's 32C), then
down a bit
more to
Etsaut.
We're here for two nights, and it's a great little B&B, with beds
actually that Chris can fit in.
Looking forward to dinner and then not walking tomorrow. We're going to take the bus over the crest and down to Canfranc station and have lunch, as a new hotel has recently been opened there.
