A near zero-day. 7km from Hannemoos Pass down to Lenk, then up to the Berghotel Leiterli. Pleasant and basically uneventful.
Not much to say here: took the bus from Adelboden to Geils to skip yet another 7km valley/forest walk. From there, it's 40 minutes up to the top of the very broad pass. Then down to Lenk. We found the train station, then the stamp box at the (closed) tourist info office.
Lenk has an odd feeling. There's not much activity... several hotels had that "we haven't updated since 1980" feeling (Helvetica isn't a good choice these days for signage fonts) and while the sidewalks and benches and planters are very new, storefronts are mostly empty. We had a picnic outside the tourist info office on a table, and I kinda thought maybe the whole town was run by some cult or something. Just strange vibes there. That feeling was amplified as we walked by the big recently-abandoned Hotel Bellevue (Switzerland's First Boutique Hotel Management School!) with tattered banners out front and a weedy entrance... but it was really too sunny to be spooky.
And then a cable way up to the hotel at 1900m. Yeah, we just avoided an uphill walk and 900m of elevation gain yet again, but hey we are all about HYOH. That cable way was long, and in a four person car with a middle station where we didn't have to get out. Maybe 25 minutes or something, and we're at a pleasant little 1970s-ish hotel with a basic room. And fondue for dinner :-)
