Perth, Western Australia
Today, we woke up late, and hung out before heading out to the Perth Fair Day. We met up with Franz and Gary, had a yummy Vietnamese dinner, and got ready to leave Perth in the morning.
It wasn't that exciting of a day. We got to the fair about 3. It was fairly busy, and we wandered around all the booths, looking at the standard stuff: travel companies, meat-on-a-stick, HIV awareness. Some stands were interesting, though--the needle exchange booth, and the Western Australia government booth.
Most of the other bears were out as well--Mark, the pony breeder from Gin Gin, Steve who looked woofy in Army fatigues, Graham who I chatted with about plants, and Glenn, Mr. Australasian Bear 2002. Graham and Glenn are visiting San Francisco in February for IBR, so we exchanged numbers and email addresses.
Franz and Gary showed up a bit later, and we hung out with them for a bit before heading back to the room to pack. Later that evening, we met up with them in Northbridge for dinner... there were lots of places to check out, but we went to a Vietnamese place Chris had his eye on. The food was pretty good, though we were sad they were out of the green papaya and beef salad. Sniff! Franz and Chris wandered down the street and bought a 1994 aged riesling. That was pretty good.
And then, it was off to bed. Need to be rested for the long drive tomorrow!
Weird Wildlife Sighting
None. This is central Perth, after all. Oh, wait: there were black swans on the lake--in Hyde Park where the fair was held.
