Kununurra, Western Australia
We sit around and wait for Monday.
Today was a nothing day. We didn't want to drive much of anywhere, though we did go to the news agents and a book store to stock up on stuff to read. We got back to the campsite around noon, and spent the rest of the day around the pool, reading.
In the late afternoon, a German speaking tourist, named Regula came over and started talking to Chris. She was interested if we could do her a favor: to take a couple of boxes of food down the Gibb River Road to Ellenbrae Station. Regula's one of the many people that try and do the 'round Australia on alternative transportation' deal; she and her partner Stefan are from Berne, Switzerland, and have been going around Australia on a tandem bicycle since October! Sure, we can help them out--we'll drop their two boxes off for them as we head down the Gibb River Road.
In the evening, we head to the Kununurra Picture Gardens, a drive-in movie theater, for a double feature of The Mothman Prophecies and Panic Room. I haven't been to a drive-in theater in ages! This one, they've somewhat converted, with decaying deck chairs in front of the screen you can sit on. We backed our LandCruiser into position behind the clump of deck chairs, then pulled out our camp chairs and watched another scary Richard Gere flick. It was so boring that we decided to skip Panic Room, which we'd already seen in Melbourne, and head to bed. Weird Wildlife Sighting
Nothing much.
