AAlice Springs to Uluru, Northern Territory

We run errands in the morning, then drive six hours to Uluru, stopping at the Hensely Meteor Craters on the way.

I got my digital camera back today. And damn it, it's still broken. Canon replaced the lens ($424, ouch!) but didn't check to see that it focuses properly. It doesn't. It looks like it does on the display in back, until you magnify the shot, and see that they're blurry. I was bummed, and considering all sorts of rash things, like buying the same camera again in Alice Springs, or maybe order it online and having it shipped to San Jose and having Matthew express ship it over or something. I don't know. I'm irritated I can't take many pictures, and that it's costing me $20 for every roll of film that I develop. Sigh. I shipped back the camera, hopefully they can fix it and send it back quick. If not... well, I think I'll get another one here. I'll pay more, but it'll be more hassle free.

The Henseley Meteor Craters were small and not all that interesting. They look like a bulldozer has gouged some 10 meter tall walls in circular patterns.

We then continued the drive to Yulara, the resort that is just outside Uluru, and tried to find a decent place to set up the tent. There weren't many places that weren't right next to other people, but we found one. It was noisy, with people coming and going all night, radios playing, dogs barking, kids running around. And it was 200 meters away from the diesel generators that droned all night long at the Yulara power station.

Still, we slept OK.
