Our first day of scuba course.
The scuba course went well. It was like going back to school again. Blech! The reading last night helped quite a bit, but made me rather bored in class. Fortunately, it was only the morning.
The afternoon was better--we got in the pool and put on scuba gear. That was interesting. I was worried about my mask, and worried about breathing. These are definitely not problems. It's really easy to do... you just breathe normally through your mouth. After five minutes, you just don't think about it. All the other things are basically checklists that you should remember, plus some guidelines.
Chris was liking this quite a bit, as was I, so we decided to upgrade to the Advanced course, which means another day of diving on Friday before scooting north to Townsville. We stopped at the dive shop afterwards, and bought snorkel, fins, masks, and booties for snorkeling and maybe diving later in the trip.
And after that... we were pretty tired after that first day... so went to bed somewhat early.
